Ms. Angela Pearly-Gates Montenegro is a specialist in forensic facial reconstruction at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington, D.C. She is trained in the fine arts and designed the Angelator - a three-dimensional holographic imager that is used to recreate faces and murder scenarios. Angela is an assistant to Dr. Brennan as well as Brennan's best friend.
Often describing herself as "the only normal one", working with murder all day takes its toll on Angela a lot harder than on any of the other squints. Brennan acknowledges this, saying that it is because Angela sees their faces while the rest of them don't anymore - they just see evidence. In one episode (1x06) Angela considers quitting the Jeffersonian, saying that she's an artist and that the whole murder and justice thing just isn't her. At the end of the episode Dr. Goodman tells Angela that she is the best of them - that she gives the dead back their faces and puts names to lost souls - and Angela hugs him, tears in her eyes, and stays.
Despite the fact that she calls herself "the only normal one" and is more of a fun-loving party girl, she is anything but normal. It is revealed that she has dated everyone from circus people to a girl named Roxy, whose heart she broke in second year art school. In one episode (1X11) it is also revealed that, over the past eight years, Angela has lived at twenty-five different addresses in six different countries. Along with living at a multitude of addresses, Angela travels a lot. She has mentioned going to Jamaica, and she also went to Fiji - where she ended up jumping over a broomstick with a man named Grayson "Birimbau" Barasa
